Co-project lead on an EHR migration project at work
I am delighted to have been a part of the Digital Health Skills for Africa (DHSA) participants.
Through the DHSA, I developed practical skills in digital health project management, data quality, and system usability. Earlier this year, I was tasked with a critical EHR migration project in my workplace which I co-led with a colleague and applied the skills I have learnt. I managed the mapping and transfer of patient records, including medication data, consultation data, clinical notes, referrals, vaccination histories, and demographics. Working within strict timeframes, my colleague and I identified and resolved data quality issues before go-live, ensuring the integrity of clinical data and preventing potential financial and operational risks.
This experience proved how the DHSA has equipped me to confidently contribute to digital transformation initiatives by turning theoretical knowledge into real-world and sustainable improvements for healthcare delivery.
